Week 3: Refraction, Diffusion, Direction of Light and Using One Light

RITA

Inverse Square Law + Angle of Incidence:
the light here is directed to the floor in the left angle of the frame, in order to get these shimmering reflections on the background and shadows of the subject.

How I feel about Rita: Vaporous, luminous, a poetic beauty.

Inverse Square Law + Angle of Reflection:
the light here is behind the subject in the left bottom of the frame, in order to get this range of bright to dark in the background, and the mirror facing the subject in order to slightly light her face.

Opposite feeling: Dark and withdrawn.

BENZ

Inverse Square Law + Straight Line:
the light here is directed straight frontal 6 feet from the subject behind the camera, using multiple objects in order to create shadows in the background and at the same time to light the whole set.

How I feel about Benz: a daydreamer wide open to an opulent universe, an original character.

Straight Line + Diffusion:
the light here is directed from above the subject using a transparent diffusion in order to partially see the subject.

Opposite feeling: obscure and  uncommunicative.
